Mexico Children's Ministry
In conjunction with Shepherd Savior (a 501C3 Christian private foundation), we sponsor two missionary efforts: Candy Roll and Unday Sunday.
Mexico Candy Roll Mission
Each year our church participates in ministry which provides Christmas gifts for children in Mexico. We gather for lunch in the Sanctuary and then stuff toilet tissue cores with individually wrapped hard candies and wrap each in Christmas paper. This is a fun project that everyone can participate in. The empty toilet tissue cores are collected throughout the year for this project. Last year MUMC filled and wrapped nearly 5,000 gifts ... just from our church! There are other churches in our area that participate in this ministry and thousands of Christmas Candy Gifts are delivered to the Mexican border in time for Pastors of various churches in Mexico to distribute them to children. For many, this small token of love will be the only Christmas "gift" they receive. This ministry has been a long time project of MUMC.

There are other ways to help with this ministry such as candy donations and, of course, money to help purchase candy and paper. Give Mike Landes a call today!!
Unday Sunday Mission
Unday Sunday is a missionary project that began at MUMC back in 2002. Its purpose is to provide new undergarments, socks, good used clothing and shoes and school supplies for the underprivileged children in Mexico.
Our church members provide donations during the months of June and July and the goods are taken to the Texas/Mexico border in early August. Some church members that don't care to shop give money. These funds are effectively used to purchase new undergarments.
Once the donationsa re collected, they are separated and boxed. The goods are then trucked down to the border (Alamo, TX). Representatives from as amny as 150 churches then come up from Mexico to receive the donations and consequently pass them out to the children before their school year begins.
In 2010, over 5,000 pairs of boys and girls undergarments were taken down. We also took down about 250 large boxes filled with clean clothing, shoes and school supplies.
Please contact Mike landes at 936-448-4560 should you have any questions.
